World’s Largest Solar Steam System Comes Up In Shirdi

Shirdi (Maharashtra) : Hindu and Muslim pilgrims visiting the shrine of Sai Baba in this town will be served food cooked with the help of a solar steam system, inaugurated by New and Renewable Energy Minister Farooq Abdullah Thursday, that officials say is the world’s largest.

The solar steam system can generate 3,500 kg of steam every day – enough to cook food for 20,000 people. It has been designed for cooking food for devotees visiting the shrine devoted to Sai Baba, a 19th century Sufi saint who was revered by Hindus and Muslims alike.

The total cost of the new system at Shirdi, some 90 km from Nashik, is estimated at Rs.1.33 crore for which a subsidy of Rs.58.4 lakh has been provided by the new and renewable energy ministry.

The system will result in annual savings of 100,000 kg of cooking gas. It has been designed in such a way that it will generate steam for cooking even in the absence of electricity to run the feed water pump for circulating water in the system.

The ministry offers support of up to 50 percent of the cost of such systems set up by non-profit bodies and up to 35 percent cost support to profit making bodies.

“Over 40 systems covering a dish area of about 12,000 sq metre have been supported by the ministry so far for various applications, though the major application is cooking only,” an official statement said.

Some of the large solar steam cooking systems installed include those at Mount Abu in Rajasthan for serving 10,000 people every day, and at Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh and Satyabhama university in Chennai, which cater to about 15,000 people a day.

Indian Election – India’s Ruling Party Wins Resounding Victory
By GAVIN RABINOWITZ, Associated Press Writer Gavin Rabinowitz, Associated Press Writer – 2 hrs 1 min ago

NEW DELHI – The ruling Congress party swept to a resounding victory Saturday in India’s mammoth national elections, defying expectations as it brushed aside the Hindu nationalist opposition and a legion of ambitious smaller parties.

The strong showing by the party, which is dominated by the powerful Nehru-Gandhi political dynasty, laid to rest fears of an unstable, shaky coalition heading the South Asian giant at a time when many of it neighbors are plagued by instability, civil war and rising extremism.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh declared victory, telling reporters that voters had given the Congress party-led coalition a “massive mandate.”

The left-of-center Congress, which has long tried to balance free market reforms with a vow to protect the downtrodden in this country of 1.2 billion people, wants a “stable, strong government which is committed to secular values,” he said.

The results left the Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party, the country’s other main party, vowing a period of introspection after they failed to capitalize on the economic uncertainty and increased turmoil in Pakistan, India’s longtime rival.

“We will analyze these results in detail,” said Arun Jaitley, a senior BJP leader conceding defeat. “The BJP accepts the mandate of the people of India with all humility.”

With most votes counted, the Election Commission said the Congress-led alliance had won — or was leading in — races for 254 seats in the 543-seat Parliament. The BJP alliance came up short with 153. The Congress party alone, without the support of its coalition allies, had won or was leading in 204 seats, putting it far ahead of all other parties.

While the results were a clear victory for the Congress coalition it still leaves it short of the 272 seats needed to govern alone and will require the support of other parties. India has been ruled by coalition governments for most of the last two decades.

For months, polls and political observers had predicted that neither of the country’s two main parties would emerge a clear winner, forcing an unstable and unwieldy coalition that could have conceivably included dozens of smaller parties.

Analysts said that Congress — which posted the best results by an individual party in nearly two decades — reaped the rewards of dramatic economic growth during their last term and a series of high-profile pro-poor programs.

“It’s not just because it oversaw four years of nine percent growth. What has probably helped was that its agenda was one of inclusive growth,” said Mahesh Rangarajan, a political analyst in New Delhi.

That perception also saw Congress make deep inroads into the base of their former allies, the Communist parties — a result welcomed by business leaders who said it would enable India to embrace economic reforms as it faces the global downturn.

The communists, a traditional power in Indian politics, had supported Congress for much of the previous term, but broke ties over the Indian-U.S. civilian nuclear agreement, the cornerstone of warmer relations between New Delhi and Washington.

Until their departure they repeatedly frustrated economic reforms that would have allowed India to further open up its economy.

Venu Srinivasan, president of the Confederation of Indian Industry, said Congress’ re-election would provide welcome stability and continuity, calling on the party to ensure reforms are “fast tracked.”

President Barack Obama congratulated India on its “historic national elections,” a White House statement said Saturday.

“By successfully completing the largest exercise of popular voting in the world, the elections have strengthened India’s vibrant democracy and upheld the values of freedom and pluralism that make India an example for us all,” it said.

While the results marked the success of the government’s policies, it also heralded the next chapter in the country’s deep ties to its most powerful political dynasty.

The Congress party has long said that Singh, 76, an economist and technocrat who helped open India’s economy nearly 20 years ago, would return to power if it won. But the election was also a clear victory for party chief Sonia Gandhi’s son, Rahul, who emerged as a key strategist during the campaign and became the party’s most visible face.

While a relative political newcomer, he has been increasingly viewed as a future prime minister. “This is the beginning of the real rise to power of Rahul Gandhi,” said Rangarajan, the analyst.

Rahul, 38, is a scion of India’s most powerful family — the son of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, grandson of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and great-grandson of Jawaharlal Nehru, India’s first prime minister. The family was closely allied to the pacifist icon Mohandas Gandhi, though they are not related.

The election also scuttled the ambitions of the “Third Front,” an alliance of regional and caste-based parties that had banded together — and which for a time had been seen as a wild card that could emerge with immense power.

Among these was Mayawati, who had made clear her ambition to be India’s first low-caste politician.

Mayawati, a Dalit, or “untouchable,” the social outcasts at the bottom of the caste system, has emerged as a major force in Indian politics, winning control of Uttar Pradesh, India’s most populous state in 2007 state elections.

But she failed to replicate her success — based on an alliance of Dalits and high-caste Hindu Brahmins — in the national elections.

As results came in, celebrations erupted outside the Congress party headquarters. Party workers set off fireworks and danced in the streets carrying posters of party leader Sonia Gandhi.

“We have won a thumping majority,” Congress activist Parag Jain said outside the party offices, in a leafy, elegant south New Delhi neighborhood. “Successful rule begins and ends with Congress and the Gandhi family.”

God Responds To Inner Purity

Divine Answers From Sathya Sai Baba

Divine Answers From Sathya Sai Baba

God Responds To Inner Purity

Question: Sometimes one gets a feeling that One is very close to God and at other times one feels that God has moved very far away. Would Swami please explain the reasons for those feelings?

Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba: Jealousy and anger are responsible for these feelings. If these are controlled, then one is in a position to control the Supreme Spirit (Paramatma). That is, Swami comes near, otherwise he appears far from you. Sometimes the boys (referring here to His college boys) do not understand as to why Swami appears to be angry with them. They have to realize that their thoughts, which Swami knows, are responsible for Swami’s reactions.

Here is a small story. Once King Akbar was informed by some of his Moslem noblemen, that Guru Nanak was enjoying great popularity with a large section of the Moslem population and he should be firmly put down. Now Akbar had a Hindu mother, so he was very tolerant towards non-Moslems and he invited Guru Nanak to visit his palace. But, Nanak refused the invitation and said, “I have only one King and that is God. Worldly kings are there and gone tomorrow. I pay homage only to God.”

Akbar realized the wisdom in Nanak’s reply, so he invited Nanak to pray in a mosque. At the mosque, Guru Nanak created a commotion by laughing loudly when the priest began to recite the prayers. All those assembled there were angry with Nanak, but Akbar counseled patience.

Then Akbar began to recite the prayers and to the surprise, Nanak began laughing even louder. Now Akbar demanded an explanation of Nanak’s behaviour and in reply Nanak said, “You were thinking of your Arabian horses (Akbar had received these as a gift the day before) during the recitation of your prayers and the priest was thinking of his ill son. So what could I do but laugh at this hypocrisy.” His reaction was based on their thoughts and not on their external behaviour.

Swami is not affected by external appearances or performances. Swami is always looking for internal purity only.

A Muslim Has His Doubts Dispelled

A Muslim Has His Doubts Dispelled

Prof. Abdul Razaak Banurao Korbu was a reputed teacher of Law whose desire to teach in Bhagawan’s institute as a visiting professor was fulfilled by Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba Himself by handpicking his application form from a heap of applications.

Bhagawan had not spoken to him even one word in the first year of his service at the institute. One evening during darshan, Bhagawan walked straight to him; Korbu touched His feet with tears in his eyes. Bhagawan asked him, “How are you, sir?” “I am alright, Baba! Now…” Before Korbu could complete the sentence, Bhagawan interjected, “I know, I will see you later.” On that Sunday evening, after the darshan rounds, Bhagawan walked up to Korbu in the mandir verandah and asked him, “What is your first name, sir?”

“Abdul Razaak, Swami”

“What is the meaning of Abdul?”

“It means a devotee, Baba”

“What is the meaning of Razaak?”

Korbu could only fumble. Bhagawan Himself said, “Razaak means Allah. What is the meaning of Allah?”

“God, Baba”

“That is not quite correct. Allah means “all high” or “above all”; that is also the meaning of Parameshwar – Param Ishwar. There is no difference. Allah and Parameshwar are one. He has manifested Himself as this vishwa.”

Korbu’s mind went blank with joy. Then, Bhagawan called him into the interview room. Korbu broke down when he was all alone with the Guardian for the first time. Bhagawan established complete rapport with him instantly, saying, “Sit comfortably and do not cry. Why fear when I am here! You are Abdul! – My Abdul, and I am your Razaak; you know it well.”

The very next day during a second Interview, Bhagawan said, “I know that you have faith in Me, but you do not believe in My power to create objects, Isn’t it so?”

Startled at Bhagawan’s revelation, Prof. Korbu instantly understood that this had been a question mark in his mind for almost five years.

“Forgive me, Baba. What You have said is correct” was the Professor’s reply.

“Your lack of faith in My power to materialise is genuine. I like your frankness and love you. It is good that you do not take anything for granted. Now, you can ask Me for anything and I shall give it to you here and now! Take your time, think and ask for anything you desire.”

After thinking for a while, knowing that there were very few Muslims among His devotees, he decided to ask Him, ‘Baba, please give me such an object which embodies in it the entire universe and also any symbol of my religion marked on it!’

Baba smiled sweetly and said, “Abdul, do you think you have placed an impossible request before Me?” “Look at My palm. Do you see anything there? There is nothing either in it or behind it. You can verify it for yourself.” He turned His palm upside down; the sleeve of His robe was above the elbow. Professor who dared not touch His hand; but, Bhagawan caught his palm forcefully and moved it around His palm and hand. After that, He said, “Abdul, keep on looking at the centre of My palm for some time.”

As he gaped at His palm, within a few seconds, the skin in the centre of the palm opened out and he could see a round large object coming out of it. Soon the skin became normal as before and there was a shining ring, which dropped on the floor.

It had a crescent moon and star engraved in gold. Not understanding anything, the Professor pleaded Bhagawan to explain…

Bhagawan laughed and said. “You are only born as a Muslim, but you do not know anything about Islam!” Bhagawan further explained, “I have made this gold ring in ashtakonas (octogon) embedded in navarathnas (nine precious gems); both of them represent the universe. In the middle of the Navarathnas I have put the Islamic symbol of the crescent and the star in emeralds, which are green in colour. The green stones also stand for your religion. Now, I will put this ring on the fourth finger of your left hand since your right hand finger is disfigured.”

Surprised, he looked at the disfigured fingers of his right hand. Bhagawan slipped the heavy shining ring on his finger; it was a perfect fit. Only after coming out of the mandir, the professor came to know from an American Muslim devotee, who had a look at the ring, that the word ‘Allah’ was inscribed in Arabic language, at the centre of the green emerald stone!

NFB – News From Bangladesh – Anti-Muslim / Anti-Islam Claims

NFB – News From Bangladesh – Anti-Muslim / Anti-Islam Claims

The News From Bangladesh (NFB) & Global Amitech Imbroglio:
In 2007, the News From Bangladesh (NFB) domains published six defamatory articles from a person using the name “Haraldur Erlendsson” (with the email address that attempted to incite hate and violence among Bangladeshi Muslims against the revered Indian Guru Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. See:

“Haraldur Erlendsson” – The Revealing Of An Imposter:
The “Haraldur Erlendsson” who posted on the News From Bangladesh (NFB) domains claimed that he was from Iceland but was writing from Sweden. There are only two known people from Iceland possessing the name “Haraldur Erlendsson” (as confirmed by the Icelandic Register). The name “Haraldur Erlendsson” is not a common name and Joe Moreno (a Pro-Sai Activist) personally verified that both of the people possessing the name “Haraldur Erlendsson” did not write the Anti-Sai articles that were published on the News From Bangladesh (NFB) domains.

Joe Moreno received copies of email correspondence (with full headers) between a University journalist student and “Haraldur Erlendsson” who used the email address on the News From Bangladesh (NFB) domains. In that correspondence, “Haraldur Erlendsson” admitted he was using a pseudonym and admitted he does not reside in Sweden. “Haraldur Erlendsson” said: “Haraldur Erlendsson is a pseudonym, and to this day i am glad i used it. Nor do i live in Sweden. Which i am also glad i am not. I will not tell you where i live but through this cover up way i have escaped much harassment from defenders of Sai Baba of the nastier sort.”

The IP to the imposter “Haraldur Erlendsson” is:, which resolves to Iceland.

Please Note: The imposter “Haraldur Erlendsson” using the email should not be confused with Dr. Erlendur Haraldsson (author of “Modern Miracles: An Investigative Report on The Psychic Phenomena Associated With Sathya Sai Baba”), nor his son Haraldur Erlendsson (one of two people officially possessing that name in the Icelandic Register).

NFB’s Policies Regarding Pseudonymous & Defamatory Articles:
Although the material written by the imposter “Haraldur Erlendsson” is clearly offensive, unprofessional, defamatory, unsubstantiated and plagiarized, the News From Bangladesh (NFB) domains published six articles from him although their publication policies state:

The whole idea is to have a free flow of information without any censorship on articles, news stories and any other materials for that matter. NFB generally will not publish any material:

a. that are offensive, vulgar, unprofessional or uncivil in nature;
b. that might be considered defamation in nature;
c. that are totally unsubstantiated;
d. that are basically personal attacks or person-focused, rather than message-focused.

Note: Although NFB deserves the right to edit contents submitted by authors . It is however our policy not to alter, modify or censor any items except for above mentioned reasons.

To further uphold the integrity of this forum and enhance the confidence of our readership in this forum:

a. NFB will not accept any material contributed anonymously.
b. NFB will not allow contribution under aliases or pseudonames.
c. All contributors must disclose their real identity by providing verifiable institutional affiliation. In case of any potential abuse, NFB reserves the right to verify such information. (Reference)

The imposter “Haraldur Erlendsson” plagiarized entire paragraphs from articles written by Barry Pittard, Robert Priddy, Brian Steel and Basava Premanand without giving them due credit. Needless to say, Ex-Devotees have been thoroughly exposed for their pathological lies, misrepresentations, deceptions, monomania and gutter attacks.

Why did the News From Bangladesh (NFB) domains publish defamatory Anti-Sai material when it clearly violates their publishing policies? Although the relevant email was sent to NFB (where the imposter “Haraldur Erlendsson” admitted using a pseudonym), the defamatory articles have not been removed from the NFB domains. The reasons for NFB publishing these defamatory articles and NFB’s refusal to remove these defamatory articles will soon be made abundantly clear.

NFB Board Editor A. H. Jaffor Ullah: Anti-Muslim & Anti-Sai Baba:

Ironically, NFB Board Editor Dr. A. H. Jaffor Ullah (who resides in the USA – New York or New Jersey) is openly associated with the Anti-Muslim websites (Ref) and (Ref). Some select quotes from these Anti-Islam websites: We are a group of Muslim apostates who have left Islam out of our own conviction when we discovered that the religion of Islam is not a religion at all. Most of us had taken a prolong period of time to study, evaluate, reflect and contemplate on this religion of our birth. Having scrutinized this religion with meticulous attention, we concluded that Islam is not at all a religion of peace as touted by many smooth-talking, self-serving Islamists and the Islamic apologists. The core of Islam, that is, the Qur’an, Hadis and Sharia are filled with unbound hatred for the unbelievers, unbelievably intolerant and exceptionally cruel and merciless to those who dare to deviate an iota from its doctrine. We discovered that Islam is beyond alteration, because Muslims who attempt to modernize and reform its unremitting bigotry, mindless rituals and its barbaric and draconian punitive measures are targeted for annihilation. Our verdict was that the only way to escape from the tyranny of Islam is to leave it for good. (Reference) Faith Freedom International is a grassroots movement of those who asked prohibited questions and on that account lost their faith. We came to see that Islam is a hoax, an imperialistic ideology, disguised as religion, invented by a narcissist for his own personal gains. We found out that Muhammad was a conman, a ventriloquist who projected his own words into his imaginary dummy deity to fool the gullible. With a promise of a carnal and orgiastic paradise (just for men) and threat of hell he goaded his foolhardy followers to raid and slay innocent people under pretext that they were infidels. He and his merry band of terrorists looted villages and cities, raped the women, and enslaved all who were not killed outright. To this day, Muslim jihadis are following the footsteps of their prophet who bragged, ‘I have been made victorious with terror’. No other cause is responsible for more deaths than Islam. Our goal is to expose this religion of terror and warn of its danger. We also want to help Muslims see the absurdity of it, end their ‘us’ vs. ‘them’ ethos and embrace the human race in amity. No one is their enemy; it is they who are the enemy to everyone else. We strive for the unity of mankind through the elimination of Islam, the most insidious doctrine of hate. Humanity is one. Let not charlatans like Hitler and Muhammad divide us with their big lies. (Reference)

Therefore, NFB Board Editor Dr. A. H. Jaffor Ullah is not only strongly associated with a group of people with a known history of Anti-Sai activism, he also belongs to a group of Anti-Muslim / Anti-Islam activists as well.

I wonder what Muslim NFB readers will say about these facts?

News From Bangladesh (NFB) & Global Amitech – In Conclusion:
The News From Bangladesh (NFB) domains are irresponsible news outlets that publish articles that secretly feed personal bias and hate to its unsuspecting readers. Even though the NFB published six articles from an anonymous defamer attempting to incite Muslims against Sathya Sai Baba for allegedly being critical of Islam (a highly subjective and unsupported claim), one of the chief NFB Board Editors (i.e., Dr. A. H. Jaffor Ullah) is openly Anti-Muslim / Anti-Islam!

Sathya Sai Baba is not “Anti-Muslim” or “Anti-Islam” whatsoever. As a matter of fact, RadioSai (an official Sathya Sai website) responded with a five-part rebuttal to the imposter “Haraldur Erlendsson” and his defamatory accusations published by NFB. RadioSai provided numerous pictures and references highlighting the fact that Sathya Sai Baba embraces all religions (including Islam) and is well respected and accepted by many Muslims. See the article entitled: Do Attacks On Swami Have Any Message For Us?

Since the News From Bangladesh (NFB) domains refuse to abide by their own publishing policies, NFB will be held accountable for their hypocrisy and promotion of hate by publishing articles by anonymous defamers who assume fake identities to push their agendas.
