Robert Priddy’s ‘Bomb Argument’ Explodes In His Face

Robert Priddy’s ‘Bomb Argument’ Explodes In His Face

Robert Priddy (a caustic critic of Sathya Sai Baba) recently published a blogged article in which he castigated the website for deleting a quote allegedly taken from Sathya Sai Baba’s convocation discourse. To bolster his claim, Robert Priddy shrieked that he screen-captured the saibabaofindia webpage before the quote was deleted. Robert Priddy said:
Typical of the cover-up of all Sai believers, and as I predicted on this blog site some days ago – has also removed their web page in which they rashly posted what Sai Baba said only days before the Mumbai terror attacks. (The have reposted the Convocation address without the blunder on another URL. What a disinforming propaganda website!) The original was at link, and the crucial part was captured on screen before it was deleted (see on right).

The offending text, which may well have influenced the blind devotee, former Union Minister of Home Affairs Shivaj Patil, to take it easy on the terror threat- was:-

“India is the only place where people are not worried about any attacks. In America , Germany and other countries, they cant eat well or sleep well. There is fear of bombs always in those countries. But in India, there is no fear of bombs. India will never have any such attacks.” Sathya Sai Baba 22-10-2008

Since Robert Priddy believes it is OKAY to screen-capture webpages to other websites (and does not see it as an issue of infringment), I am providing the following screen-capture to his absurd article that was posted on his Anti-Sai WordPress blog:

Robert Priddy’s Absurd Claim

Robert Priddy’s Absurd Claim

Since Robert Priddy is a proven pathological prevaricator, I decided to re-check his alleged “scholarly” claim for myself.

  • First and foremost, Robert Priddy lied when he said the quote was deleted from the saibabaofindia website. It was not deleted, is still available (Ref) and I even obtained a recent screen-capture myself:
    SaiBabaOfIndia Recent Screencap

    SaiBabaOfIndia Recent Screencap

  • Secondly, the convocation discourse was delivered on November 22nd 2008, not October 22nd 2008 as erroneously and falsely claimed by Robert Priddy.
  • Thirdly, Robert Priddy misquoted the original post and said “India is the only place where people are not worried about any attacks…” instead of saying Talking about India Swami said, India is the only place where people are not worried about any attacks…” (which would have revealed that the quote was summarized by a Sai Devotee and was not an official translation).
  • Lastly, the quote in question (which was obtained from memory by a Sai Devotee in the crowd) did not come from the official discourse, was not published on an official Sathya Sai website and was not even a full translation to the full discourse (it was simply a personal summation recollected from memory)! Therefore Robert Priddy lied again when he attributed the quote directly to Sathya Sai Baba.

Barry Pittard, Brian Steel and Robert Priddy have written idiotic blogged posts claiming that Sathya Sai Baba said out of his own mouth that India had “no fear of bombs” just a week before the Mumbai Terror Attacks. Needless to say, no “bombs” fell on India during the Mumbai Terror Attacks and the official discourse (published the same day it was delivered) made no mention to bombs whatsoever.

Therefore, critic’s cannot say with any certainty that Sathya Sai Baba made that claim out of his own mouth although they directly attributed the “bomb” quote to Sathya Sai Baba as if they were citing an official translation taken from an official Sathya Sai website. The quote in question did not come from the official translation, nor did it come from an official Sathya Sai website.

Let us take a look at the quote in question (recollected from memory) made by a Sai Devotee on the saibabaofindia Yahoo Group:

Yahoo Group Quote: “…Talking about India Swami said, India is the only place where people are not worried about any attacks. In America , Germany and other countries, they can’t eat well or sleep well. There is fear of bombs always in those countries. But in India , there is no fear of bombs. India will never have any such attacks…” (Ref)

Even if one were to accept this summation as true, the context to the quote is quite clear:

  • The weapons in question are “bombs”.
  • The “bombs” in question are feared by America, Germany and other countries (indicating nuclear bombs).
  • India will not be attacked by these “bombs”, which are feared by other countries.

Needless to say, no “bombs” (which are feared by other countries) were dropped on India during the Mumbai terror attacks, hence the idiocy of critic’s strawman arguments and extreme, absurd and fanatic misrepresentations.

Therefore, the only “disinforming propaganda websites” are the ones belonging to Barry Pittard, Brian Steel and Robert Priddy. Far be it for Robert Priddy to call others “blind devotees” when he was a “blind devotee” for 17-26 years and even hailed Sai Baba as the Avatar of the Age and God Incarnate! The more Robert Priddy attacks Sai Devotees for their “stupidity”, “blindness”, “gullibility”, “naivete”, etc., the stronger he implicates himself as having possessed these qualities for decades.

Exploiting The Mumbai Terror Attacks:

After Inciting Islamic Terrorists To Attack Jews And Foreigners At Puttaparthi / Whitefield, Barry Pittard Sends ‘Love’ To India

In a thoroughly disgusting and hypocritical gesture of pseudo-sympathy, Barry Pittard (a caustic critic of Sathya Sai Baba) had the audacity to write a blogged article in which he sent “much love” to India and to the victims of Mumbai’s recent terrorism attacks.

Barry Pittard is the same person who trashed and bashed all of India as being universally “corrupt” and that hundreds of millions of Hindus (including other religions that believe in miracles) are “backward intellectually” “ignorant peasants” who believe in scriptures that are “sheer delusion” and “impossible concocted stories of the ‘Superman’ kind” (Ref).

Barry Pittard is the same person who wrote an article in 2002 inciting Islamic Terrorists to attack Jews and Foreigners at Sathya Sai Baba’s ashrams in Puttaparthi and Whitefield.

After promoting so much hate against India, India’s culture, India’s gurus, India’s scriptures and Indians themselves, Barry Pittard blithely sends “much love” to India.

After sending his “love” to India, Barry Pittard and his co-conspirator Robert Priddy gloated and rejoiced about India’s tragedy by ridiculing “Sai Devotee” Home Minister Shivraj Patil (who resigned after the Mumbai attacks). Barry Pittard and Robert Priddy are exploiting the terrorist tragedy in India with the ulterior motive and hope of getting a few extra visitors to their Anti-Sai WordPress blogs, which are critical of Sai Baba.

Let us take a look at Barry Pittard’s public letter and his actual words inciting Islamic Terrorists to attack Jews and Foreigners at Puttaparthi and/or Whitefield:
Date: 11-25-02
From: Barry Pittard, Australia.

If I were a fundamentalist ‘Islamic’ terrorist I would be sharply eyeing off Puttaparthi/Whitefield, and would consider a Christmas to be a good time to blow up or otherwise kill foreigners there, especially American, British, German, French, Israeli, Australian, not to mention citizens of any other countries who support the US.

It would be one way to reply to their religious leader’s blasphemous assertion that he is fully God incarnate – i.e., Allah.

Since sathya sai baba has a large number of Jewish followers from around the world, it may be instructive (and even save lives) to note the dates of Chanukah for the next five years:

CHANUKAH Eight Days Festival of Lights
Sat 30 Nov Sat 8 Dec
Sat 20 Dec Sat 27 Dec
Wed 8 Dec Wed 15 Dec
Mon 26 Dec Mon 2 Jan
Sat 16 Dec Sat 23 Dec

Lodged deeply in my fundamentalist cultural psyche would be a notion of Islam against Christianity, the Faithful against the infidel Crusaders. Islam against the Jews. And any other Infidel who gives them aid and comfort.

I would especially relish a crack at George W. Bush’s fellow Christians and neo-Christians among those misguided enough to visit the supposed Father of Jesus Christ. There would be plenty of US, UK, German, French, Israel, Canada, New Zealand, Australian, etc., body bags or bits of DNA to send home to the blasphemers’ countries!

Of course, sathya sai baba ashram security is tighter than a drum on peak Hindu occasions, when the President, Prime Minister and other VVIP’s go visit him – with all their retinue of top security aides and sheer firepower. However, the considerable deterent of heavily beefed up security arrangements (some of the personnel experienced in years of bloody tussle with terrorists and other criminals of many kinds, in and beyond India) would be much diminished at Christmas time.

The fundamentalist ‘Allah’ be praised – Christmas time. Westerner time! A time to strike?

In the general time scale of the current Middle Eastern terrorist development, one may wonder whether such forces would yet have had time to be manoeuvred into such a fairly well-secured place as Puttaparthi/Whitefield. However, non-Puttaparthi/Whitefield oriented operations previously planned can be revamped into a new configuration, which prioritorizes for holy destruction this city of blasphemy against Allah and His Prophet (Peace be upon him)…

Come November 2008, the terrorists who attacked Jews and Foreigners in Mumbai acted in the exact manner that Barry Pittard hoped would occur at Puttaparthi / Whitefield.

Who, in his right mind, would:

  • Fantasize about being an Islamic Terrorist?
  • Fantasize about murdering and slaughtering innocent Christians and Jews?
  • Fantasize about the resulting mutilation, blood and gore?
  • Fantasize that these acts of terrorism would occur at Puttaparthi?
  • Fantasize that terrorists would reprioritize their attacks and instead attack Westerners at Puttaparthi?
  • Incite terrorists by claiming that Sathya Sai Baba is blaspheming Islam?
  • Have the gall and audacity to publicly publish these aberrant fantasies under the pretext of warning others about possible terrorism?

In addition to Barry Pittard’s terrorism letter, he viciously attacked the well known and respected Rabbi David Zeller, mysteriously had his Anti-Sai-Baba articles published on the Adeliade Institute website (which is considered Anti-Semitic by the Israel Ministry of Home Affairs) and published Anti-Sai-Baba articles in the Nexus Magazine, which has been rightly accused of having Anti-Semitic ties (Ref).

Barry Pittard is also a strong advocate and solicitor of Sanjay Dadlani, who posted on the QuickTopic Forum under the name “kick his head in” and said that someone should murder Sathya Sai Baba. Sanjay Dadlani is the same person who rejoiced when a Sai Baba temple was bombed by a terrorist. Sanjay even expressed sympathy for the terrorist who bombed the temple. Of Sanjay Dadlani, Barry Pittard said, “May those, who are so much older, learn from his example!”

Why does it appear that Barry Pittard has friends who sympathize with terrorists or have Anti-Semitic ties?

Combine all this information with Barry Pittard’s comments about Islamic Terrorists, “DNA bits” (i.e., blood, crushed bone, viscera, bodily tissues and bodily secretions) and Jews and the end result is very disturbing, macabre and wholly unconscionable.

These are the type of extremists and fanatic defamers who are attempting to smear and malign Sathya Sai Baba.

Barry Pittard, India does not need your “love”.

MUMBAI, India — Coordinated terrorist attacks struck the heart of Mumbai, India’s commercial capital, on Wednesday night, killing dozens in machine-gun and grenade assaults on at least two five-star hotels, the city’s largest train station, a movie theater and a hospital.

Even by the standards of terrorism in India, which has suffered a rising number of attacks this year, the assaults were particularly brazen in scale and execution. The attackers used boats to reach the urban peninsula where they hit, and their targets were sites popular with tourists.

The Mumbai police said Thursday that the attacks killed at least 101 people and wounded at least 250. Guests who had escaped the hotels told television stations that the attackers were taking hostages, singling out Americans and Britons.

A previously unknown group claimed responsibility, though that claim could not be confirmed. It remained unclear whether there was any link to outside terrorist groups.

Gunfire and explosions rang out into the morning.

Hours after the assaults began, the landmark Taj Mahal Palace & Tower Hotel, next to the famed waterfront monument the Gateway of India, was in flames.

Guests banged on the windows of the upper floors as firefighters worked to rescue them.

Fire also raged inside the luxurious Oberoi Hotel, according to the police. A militant hidden in the Oberoi told India TV on Thursday morning that seven attackers were holding hostages there.

“We want all mujahedeen held in India released, and only after that we will release the people,” he said. Some guests, including two members of the European Parliament who were visiting as part of a trade delegation, remained in hiding in the hotels, making desperate cellphone calls, some of them to television stations, describing their ordeal.

Alex Chamberlain, a British citizen who was dining at the Oberoi, told Sky News television that a gunman had ushered 30 or 40 people from the restaurant into a stairway and, speaking in Hindi or Urdu, ordered them to put up their hands.

“They were talking about British and Americans specifically,” he said. “There was an Italian guy, who, you know, they said, ‘Where are you from?’ and he said he’s from Italy, and they said, ‘Fine,’ and they left him alone.”

Sajjad Karim, 38, a British member of the European Parliament, told Sky News: “A gunman just stood there spraying bullets around, right next to me.”

Before his phone went dead, Mr. Karim added: “I managed to turn away and I ran into the hotel kitchen and then we were shunted into a restaurant in the basement. We are now in the dark in this room, and we have barricaded all the doors. It’s really bad.”

Attackers had also entered Cama and Albless Hospital, according to Indian television reports, and struck at or near Nariman House, which is home to the city’s Chabad-Lubavitch center.

The police told Reuters that an Israeli family was being held hostage. Israel’s Foreign Ministry said it was trying to locate an unspecified number of Israelis missing in Mumbai, according to, the Web site of an Israeli newspaper.

Several high-ranking law enforcement officials, including the chief of the antiterrorism squad and a commissioner of police, were reported killed.

The military was quickly called in to assist the police.

Hospitals in Mumbai, a city of more than 12 million that was formerly called Bombay, have appealed for blood donations. As a sense of crisis gripped much of the city, schools, colleges and the stock exchange were closed Thursday.

Vilasrao Deshmukh, the chief minister for Maharashtra State, where Mumbai is, told the CNN-IBN station that the attacks hit five to seven targets, concentrated in the southern tip of the city, known as Colaba and Nariman Point. But even hours after the attacks began, the full scope of the assaults was unclear.

Unlike previous attacks in India this year, which consisted of anonymously planted bombs, the assailants on Wednesday night were spectacularly well-armed and very confrontational. In some cases, said the state’s highest-ranking police official, A. N. Roy, the attackers opened fire and disappeared.

Indian officials said the police had killed six of the suspected attackers and captured nine.

A group calling itself the Deccan Mujahedeen said it had carried out the attacks. It was not known who the group is or whether the claim was real.

Around midnight, more than two hours after the series of attacks began, television images from near the historic Metro Cinema showed journalists and bystanders ducking for cover as gunshots rang out. The charred shell of a car lay in front of Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, formerly Victoria Terminus, the mammoth railway station. A nearby gas station was blown up.

The landmark Leopold , a favorite tourist spot, was also hit.

Reached by phone, some guests who had been trapped in the Taj said about 1 a.m. that they had heard an explosion and gunfire in the old wing of the hotel.

A 31-year-old man who was in the Taj attending a friend’s wedding reception said he was getting a drink around 9:45 p.m. when he heard something like firecrackers — “loud bursts” interspersed with what sounded like machine-gun fire.

A window of the banquet hall shattered, and guests scattered under tables and were quickly escorted to another room, he said. No one was allowed to leave.

Just before 1 a.m., another loud explosion rang out, and then another about a half-hour later, the man said.

At 6 a.m., he said that when the guests tried to leave the room early Thursday, gunmen opened fire. One person was shot.

The man’s friend, the groom, was two floors above him, in the old wing of the hotel, trapped in a room with his bride. One of the explosions, he said, took the door off its hinges. He blocked it with a table.

Then came another blast, and gunfire rang out throughout the night. He did not want to be identified, for fear of being tracked down.

Rakesh Patel, a British businessman who escaped the Taj, told a television station that two young men armed with a rifle and a machine gun took 15 hostages, forcing them to the roof.

The gunmen, dressed in jeans and T-shirts, “were saying they wanted anyone with British or American passports,” Mr. Patel said.

He and four others managed to slip away in the confusion and smoke of the upper floors, he said. He said he did not know the fate of the remaining hostages.

Clarence Rich Diffenderffer, of Wilmington, Del., said after dinner at the hotel he headed to the business center on the fifth floor.

“A man in a hood with an AK-47 came running down the hall,” shooting and throwing four grenades, Mr. Diffenderffer said. “I, needless to say, beat it back to my room and locked it, and double-locked it, and put the bureau up against the door.”

Mr. Diffenderffer said he was rescued hours later, at 6:30 a.m., by a cherrypicker. “That was pretty hairy,” he said. “I don’t like heights.”

Among those apparently trapped at the Oberoi were executives and board members of Hindustan Unilever, part of the multinational corporate giant, The Times of India reported.

Indian military forces arrived outside the Oberoi at 2 a.m., and some 100 officers from the central government’s Rapid Action Force, an elite police unit, entered later.

CNN-IBN reported the sounds of gunfire from the hotel just after the police contingent went in.

In Washington, the Bush administration condemned the attacks, as did President-elect Barack Obama’s transition team. The State Department said there were no known American casualties, but the White House said it was still “assessing the hostage situation.”

Reporting was contributed by Michael Rubenstein and Prashanth Vishwanathan from Mumbai; Jeremy Kahn and Hari Kumar from New Delhi; Souad Mekhennet from Frankfurt, Germany; Sharon Otterman and Michael Moss from New York; and Mark Mazzetti from Washington.

Mock Bomb Drill Creates Much Ado At Puttaparti reported:
Friday August 31 2007 11:51 IST

ANANTAPUR: A mock bomb drill conducted by the police at Puttaparti on Thursday to assess the preparedness of authorities to face terror attacks, caused commotion.

Following bomb threats to Tirupati and Puttaparti, the police conducted the mock drill in front of Prashanti Nilayam. Two policemen fell down after bursting crackers. Cops in plain clothes rushed to the spot and shifted the ‘injured’ to hospital in an auto.

Devotees on the premises of Prashanti Nilayam ran helter-skelter following the ‘explosion’ unaware of the fact that it was a mock bomb drill. Shopkeepers downed their shutters and the entire area wore a deserted look within no time.

Rumours spread like wildfire that four people were killed in the bomb blast. Newspaper offices were flooded with phone calls seeking details of the incident. Some TV channels also broke the news of ‘blasts’ at Puttaparthi.

Later, the police revealed that it was a mock drill conducted to assess the alertness of authorities to face a terrorist attack, much to the relief of people.

The Satya Sai Trust reportedly complained to the Central and State governments against the police for conducting the mock bomb drill in front of Prashanti Nilayam without informing it priorly, which caused widespread panic. (Reference)

Not only does this article prove that the Police operate with automony at Puttaparthi (Ex Devotees claim that the police are in the pocket of Sathya Sai Baba and the Sai Org), it also shows how false rumors spread like wildfire in India.

If the Police were truly in the pocket of the Sai Organisation, one would think that the Police would have informed the Sai Org about their mock bomb attack. They did not. If the police were truly in the pocket of the Sai Organization, the Sai Org would not have filed official complaints with the Central and State Governments against them. They did.

Another Anti-Sai conspiracy theory deflated.
