Bangalore, Oct 22: Tension prevailed at Sri Sathya Sai Baba Ashram near Whitefield for over four hours on Tuesday night following a bomb threat.

According to the police, around 8.45 p.m., M.J. Bhatia, supervisor of the ashram, received a telephone call that a bomb had been planted at the premises of temple. The person, who introduced himself as Krishnamurthy, had called from a mobile phone and demanded Rs. 1.50 lakh to defuse the bomb.

The Kadugodi police said that they were informed about it around 9.15 p.m., and immediately pressed the dog and bomb disposal squads into service. The police searched the premises till around 1 a.m. and did not find any explosives.

“Investigation with the mobile service operators revealed that the accused had procured the sim card by providing false address. According to the records, the sim card was provided to a person residing near K.R. Puram Post Office,” a police official said. The accused switched off the mobile phone after making the threat call.

  1. Your post infact creates tension. there was no tension at the asram as I hear. Infact at that time, there is normally no one at the Asram other than few residents.

One should be careful before they write.

  2. Thank you my friend. Yes, what you write is true. Sathya Sai Baba was at Puttaparthi at the time of the incident and most of the students were at Puttaparthi too preparing for the Diwali celebrations. I posted this article so that readers could get verifiable and accurate information rather than second or third hand rumors or gossip from sensationalistic media or antagonistic critics who love to feed negative stories to their friends. It was a “bomb hoax”, not a real bomb or a bombing.
