Sathya Sai Baba Knows

What would you do if you were caught up or trapped in an uncanny situation in a secluded place where no human help was expected? A sincere prayer with total surrender is the lone way out. How would God react to such a prayer that comes with ‘Other than you, refuge there is none” attitude. Here is an incident narrated by a former civil servant of India, as reported in the January 1975 issue of Sanathana Sarathi.

I was on a trekking expedition in the Himalayas to Gangotri. On the return journey, the petrol tank of the car sprung a leak, at a desolate place, between Harsil and Jhala. The precious liquid drained away into the ravines.

It was late in the evening; not a soul was found anywhere. Petrol could be obtained only from Uttarakashi, 60 miles away. And, 60 miles in the Himalayan Region is equal to at least 200 miles in the plains!

Even if petrol could be obtained, the problem remained as to how to store and use it; for, the gaping hole in the tank was as big as a saucer. Hence, first, the hole had to be closed by welding. Where could that welding be done?

It looked as if we had to persuade the ladies and children to walk to safety towards some village near by in the fast enveloping darkness; then we had to remove the petrol tank and carry it for a distance of 60 miles to Uttarakashi and get it welded there and bring it back and fit it to the car; then, we could fill up with petrol, provided we get some quantity. All this had to be done, before the car could move an inch out of that vast wilderness. Certainly, we were in for three or four days of suffering, in the shivering snows. For, we had no other person who can act as mechanic or driver.

And, lo! What cannot a prayer do? This is when Sathya Sai Baba came to help! His presence was felt by me in the midst of that desolate despair. I announced, immediately, that relief was at hand and will soon be arriving. I told the family that Baba would tell us later at Puttaparthi how we had suffered and prayed and how he had helped us.

No sooner I said so, a jeep came round and gave us five litres of petrol in a tin; they gave us also a big cake of soap, so that we might stop the leak by plugging the hole with it. The car started without trouble; we proceeded a few miles and reached Jhala, at the bottom of a mountain at least 10,000 feet high.

We could get no food or accommodation at that place. We also discovered that the cake of soap had fallen off, and the tank had gone dry!

We prayed again and again, Sathya Sai Baba answered our prayers. The same vehicle appeared before us, and the mysterious helper suggested this time that the petrol tin be fitted near the engine itself; he advised us to provide a direct connection with a length of rubber tubing. This was done and, lo, the car started and mounted up the perilous ascent of the Sukhi Himalayas, 10,000 feet high. The entire population of Jhala had come to cheer us, when we ventured to move into the Heights, with Sai and the Stars, as our sole Guide and Companions.

That quantity of petrol too was consumed that night to the last drop; Baba sent us succour in the same mysterious manner. Petrol was provided and we reached Ganganani late at midnight, safe and sound. We got both food and accommodation there and felt relieved and happy. The next day, by about noon, we reached Uttarakashi, with the least discomfort. The tank too was welded there. Further journey was smooth and uneventful.

When we met Baba at Puttaparthi, on our return from the mountaineering adventure; He welcomed us, with a twinkle in his eyes. He recounted the story of our travels, and told us all the detail’s of the succour He gave us, before we got a chance to open our mouth.

He knew. He had helped us. He had answered our prayers.

The Glimpse He Granted

Miracles are My visiting cards, said Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba referring to Him performing miracles in the life of devotees. These miracles could be a materialisation, saving from a fatal accident or from a tensed situation, in the form of unseen Divine providence or it could be a word of revelation from the secret life of some one. But, He does it in style, bringing the recipient back on to the right track instilling greater faith in him. Read such an interesting account from the life of a former student as extrated from January, 1987 issue of Sanathana Sarathi.

It was a bright sunny morning. We had all just settled on the portico for Swami’s Darshan. The rustle of His robe and the sweet fragrance announced His Divine Presence. To my delight I was called for an interview with my parents.

I was a most badly behaved boy indulging in ‘Modern’ behavioral attitudes. I would like to admit that the entire family believed in Swami, except me. When we came to Prasanthi Nilayam in 1980, my brother got admission in the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning and we got Swami’s grace for the first time. Swami poured his love on us. Even then, my natural instincts turned lovingly towards the enchanting Person but my weaknesses and worldly habits turned me away from Him. I lacked the moral fibre to transform myself. I was scared that He would reveal my nefarious doings. In fact, I loved and dreaded Swami’s Interview. In fact I wanted to get away from Puttaparthi and I wanted to avoid joining Swami’s School. But Swami’s infinite mercy and grace did not throw me into the jaws of the world.

I went inside with bated breath and beating heart. As usual groups of devotees were taken in by Bhagawan, into the inner interview room. I was relieved when our turn was over and Swami moved to distribute Vibhuti packets. Suddenly He halted. The expression on His countenance changed from motherly Love to fatherly sternness. He beckoned me back into the inner interview room, alone!

My hands would not stop shaking and my heartbeat raced beyond the range of my E.C.G. scale. He was already seated and commanded me to sit at His Feet. I sweated profusely. Then He asked me a question, “Tell me! Do you believe in Swami or not?” (By now it had become a choice between wanting to believe in Swami or not). He then gave me an undeniable and incredible proof of His omnipresence, of which even my own mother did not know. He told me how, utilizing my pocket money, I had gone to a Hindi movie, instead of attending school. He even told me the name of the film I had gone to, the name of the friend with whom I had gone, a Sarabjit Singh and even the amount of money I spent on ‘Samosas’ during the interval which was incidentally Rs. 10/ . This revelation jolted me into the realization of my aimless derogatory living and opened new vistas of a happy, joyful life, in which I have made and am making sincere efforts to transform myself.

Miracles Are Sathya Sai Baba’s Visiting Cards

Miracles Are Sathya Sai Baba’s Visiting Cards

These Visiting Cards are miracles only from the limited human perspective. In fact, these are God’s gentle taps reminding man of the absolute existence of the Divine. Ms. Indira Devi chronicles some of these gentle taps silently serving reminders to man of the absolute need to establish in Greater Faith…as extracted from Sanathana Sarathi.

On the first day of June, I was in Bulgaria, having been invited to conduct a Yoga Teachers’ Course by the Minister for Culture, when she was in India. I told her about Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba and gave her the book, “Sai Baba and Sai Yoga” and showed the film on the 50th Birthday Festival. All this prompted her to drive to Prasanthi Nilayam and she returned greatly impressed by Baba.

My visit to Sofia was a beautiful experience. The class of 150 enthusiastic yoga learners consisted of university professors, doctors, engineers, artists and others. I had also to hold classes in three hospitals where the doctors and nurses had to be taught special Asanas and breathing exercises for patients suffering from various illnesses. I had perforce to talk of Baba when questions were asked why I had named the course `Sai Yoga’ and I had to bring forth the japamala of 108 pearls which Baba had given for passing on to the very ill in order to heal them. Many instances of Baba’s Grace were related to me with tears of gratitude by those who learnt yoga from me. Professor B. was sent to me through Government channels in the hope that Yoga, Sai yoga to be more correct, might heal him. For some reason unknown to the doctors, he could walk only for a distance of about 50 meters. At that point, his legs could move no more, though they looked perfectly normal. During 40 years of teaching Yoga, I had never faced such an enigma. I gave him Vibhuti dissolved in water and applied a little on his legs, while he was holding the japamala and praying. The next day, he was normal and could walk miles with no difficulty.

At Athens, devotees were eager to see the films and hear about Him. Then I left for California, Mexico, San Salvador and Guatemala. Bhagawan’s message was received with stormy enthusiasm in all parts of Latin America, be it in Mexico, Guatemala, San Salvador or Lima in Peru. His name was on the lips of thousands and it has sunk deep into the hearts of those who have become His devotees. Faith was fertilised by many mysterious happenings in places where Bhagawan’s portraits were adored. In Guatemala, a yoga student had a dream that she was working on a statue of Bhagawan. When her mother came to wake her up early next day, she was surprised to find her fingers covered with clay! Another lady running a shoe store had just returned from Prasanthi Nilayam. She encountered a hold up by three gunmen. They asked for money and she asked Baba for help. Immediately, the fellow who drew out his gun, said, “I was misinformed” and wanted only shoes! Collecting the shoes, they made a fast exit. An armed robbery and all that the gunmen got was three pairs of cheap shoes!

In San Salvador, belief in Bhagawan’s omnipresence and omnipotence rose greatly after the miraculous escape of Herandez Quinonez. He with his wife was driving from their ranch back to San Salvador when several assailants stopped the car. At gunpoint, they forced the man to hand over his revolver and 2000 American dollars. While they were searching the trunk, the frightened couple started praying to Bhagawan for their safety. All of a sudden, the gunmen re-appeared in the window and gave back the revolver and the wad of dollars and disappeared into the darkness, leaving both of them dumbfounded.

One day at Lima (Peru) Elizabeta Maldonatio took me to the office of her husband, a medical doctor, to show me the room which they had converted into a shrine, since Bhagawan had cured her from an incurable disease when she went with him to Prasanthi Nilayam the previous year.

“What do you say of this miracle?” Elizabeta exclaimed, pointing at a large cross of yellow flower petals on the red carpet in front of the altar with Baba’s pictures. “I had placed fresh flowers on these two vases the previous evening and left. By morning, the petals had loosened by themselves and scattered into this sacred shape. Quite a few did not believe the story, the miraculous denudation of the flowers and the mystery of the design which was formed. So, with tears in my eyes, I prayed for a sign. Within minutes, while we sat in meditation, after switching off lights and with only candles flickering, a footprint appeared on the carpet of petals, on the Cross! Baba’s Foot!

You cannot imagine what was going on after that! Every one rushed forward to see it and touch it. People fell on their knees, crying and praying, embracing each other in joyful gratitude at this sign of Grace. “But when they were, all finally gone,” said Elizabeta, “the Cross looked very disbaratado (disrupted), because so many petals were missing since people took them home and I had no heart to stop them. Sad and heartbroken, I asked Baba to restore the Cross. Seven weeks later, while the original petals were still fresh and fragrant (!), He answered my prayer. The blank spaces caused by the over enthusiastic devotees were filled with fresh marigold petals from nowhere.” I prostrated before the altar with the Cross and the Footprint yellow marigold on red carpet!

Man’s acknowledgement to the gentle taps from The Greater Heaven!

Call Me Whenever You Need Me

Call Me Whenever You Need Me

Ms. Indira Devi narrates her first meeting with the Omnipresent in human frame…as extracted from Sanathana Sarathi, August 1967

I had never heard of Sathya Sai Baba before although I still was in Bombay during the first 3 days of His visit there. In retrospection, I am glad things happened the way they did, as otherwise I would not have gone to Puttaparthi to see Him if I had met Him at Bombay. I had first heard of Him only when I stopped off at Adyar, Madras, from Howard Murphet. When, after returning from Saigon to India, I was finally on my way to Puttaparthi, I kept asking myself, why am I going to see Him. I was, after all, not in need of any help or in search for a guru; but the Inner Voice calling me there was so strong that I could not disobey it.

It was a hot April afternoon when I arrived in Prasanthi Nilayam. I was given a room where Gabriella Steyer, a Swiss school teacher sweetly took care of me. She had spent a year and a half there. Listening to her experience during her stay there was like listening to a fantastic fairy-tale. She had witnessed many miraculous cures. She had seen Him multiply food, taking from the air any object He wished to give to His devotees and even produce Amrita by squeezing His hand and giving it to drink to about 500 people without refilling the vessel. Gabriella was not tired to go on with her stories, and I was not tired to listen to them. Finally she suggested that we go to sit outside the Mandir doorsteps. Then Baba appeared in the doorway. Except for the bright orange colour of His robe and the thick crop of His hair standing like a black halo round His head, He did not at all resemble the photographs of Him I had seen. His tiny, slim figure and finely cut features were exactly the opposite of the way He looks in photographs.

“May be, He will see you tomorrow morning before you leave,” whispered Gabriella. A few minutes later, Sri Sathya Sai Baba appeared on the upper balcony and looked down. Our eyes met. Suddenly my heart began beating violently. I was called in for the interview. As I stood up I felt I was growing taller and taller. If Gabriella and other girls had not supported me, I would have fallen down upon entering the interview room, as I did not any longer feel the floor under my feet. Some one switched on the fan, but I was not feeling hot or faint.

“I don’t know why I have come here,” were my first words. “I was already in Saigon on my way home but the pull was so strong that I had to come and see You.” I also told Him about our Yoga Centre in Tecate and showed Him some pictures. “You must come there, Swami,” I said. He took my hand in His and tapped it three times, stating, “I say three times I shall come. I will keep My promise.” I told Him that I was guided here by Swami Vivekananda, who, so I was told by two clairvoyants, is my protector and guardian on the other side. At the end of our interview He asked me what I wanted. “Jyoti,” I answered, “since I want to start a crusade for ‘Light in Darkness.’” He made movements with His hand in the air and handed me a bright little image of Himself. And, although I had been told by the Murphets about His way of taking things from the air, yet seeing it happen with my own eyes did something to me. I kept looking at the little medallion with wonder, when He took it back saying, “Wait, I’ll give you some Vibhuti too.” A light movement of His fingertips and the ashes poured over the little image like a snowfall. Overwhelmed, I had to joke it off in order not to break into tears. “Don’t make it disappear now,” I said. “No, no, if I gave it to you……” “I am only joking”. And we both laughed.

“Call Me whenever you need Me and my Grace. I shall be with you,” were His parting words.

Trust In Sai Baba And The Rings Retrieved

Trust In Sai Baba And The Rings Retrieved

In late summer 1985 I visited a few remaining relatives and friends in Germany. While in Hamburg, I saw an old friend who owns and runs a small goldsmith shop and studio, close to the city. Since her husband, who was also a friend and colleague had passed over many years ago, she mentioned a few times her concern regarding security in the shop where she spent most of the time alone…

I carried a small spare photograph of Sathya Sai Baba with me. I bought a nice little picture frame and put it in a showcase next to the counter and said, “SAI BABA will protect you; believe in it and you must do the same…”

She thanked me for the picture and said that she believed in BABA, even though she knew little about Him, other than what I told her…

14 months passed by. One day, late in November 1986, I received a phone call from Germany, from my friend in Hamburg. Totally upset and excited she told me that she has just been held up in her shop by a young man waving a pistol at her and threatening her life demanding five most valuable rings from the central showcase… She could not even take a single side step to press the silent alarm connecting the shop to the police…

The thief took the 5 rings and moving backwards, threatening to shoot when followed, left the shop… The police arrived within minutes after the alarm was activated. But the thief had vanished. What made me feel really sorry for her was, when she said, “You told me, SAI BABA will protect me and I really believed so much in it” (So did I). Feeling deeply with her I could only say: “He actually has helped and protected you, you could have been hurt or worse if that man was a violent type…” After that telephone call my thoughts went around in circles… I was aware of her predicament, since those valuable rings were not ‘insured’ as she said she could not afford the insurance. It was a substantial loss for her.

A few days later I received a long letter from her. To my bewilderment, she wrote that two days after the incident, she received a phone call from a Catholic Priest at an outer suburb, asking her, whether her shop had been held up two days ago? Bewildered about his knowledge of the incident, (the papers did not mention the robbery at her request) she admitted to the happening and, in return, she wished to know where he obtained that information.

The priest told her, a young man came to him, and handed over 5 rings and a gun, telling him he committed a holdup in a jewellery shop of such and such address, threatening the lady in the shop with the gun to obtain those valuable rings. He asked the priest to return the rings, since “he could not find a peaceful moment since.” Grateful and happy, my friend visited the priest and received the stolen rings.

Sathya Sai Baba Silence - Sailence

Sathya Sai Baba Silence - Sailence

Right behind the darkness of closed eyes are the wondrous forces of the universe, and all the great saints; and the endlessness of the universe…wrote Paramahamsa Yogananda speaking about the beauty of silence. Yes, it is …for the world of spirituality is the world behind the closed eyes that brings the innate divinity. For the bestowed brand of Sai Fraternity, ‘Sailence’ is the best of the boons offered by the Avatar of the age, writes Prof. N. Kasturi on the magic behind the silence in the Divine Presence of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, as published in Sanathana Sarathi, May 1977.

‘Sai’- lence
“Silence” is a word included in dictionaries of the English language. According to the lexicographers, it means: “Absence of sound; abstention from sounding; taciturnity; flavourlessness.” It is a negative phenomenon, a vacuum where something is not, an exercise in denial, an adventure of withholding. We abstain from speech when fear benumbs the tongue, when shock puts the brain out of action, when passion overwhelms, and when authority commands. At birth, we swallow a gasp; at death, we hide a groan. We weigh the pros and the cons and when reason tells us that ‘silence is golden and speech is gilt’ we lapse into silence and pride ourselves on our cleverness. Often, the words we have are trivial currency for the massive transactions in which we are involved and so, we are forced into silence! We speak of the ‘silence’ of the tomb; dead men tell no tales. We speak of the ‘silence’ of snow clad peaks, where a whisper might trail off an avalanche. We speak of the awesome silence on the moon where a whimper commits suicide on the lip. We speak of the ‘silence’ of the desert, for, we believe that the vast waste is devoid of the murmur of leaves, the chatter of birds, the gurgle of rills, and the inquisitive dialogues of insects. We speak of the silence of the ocean bed, where no echo can be heard of the roar of waves, or the grunts, squeaks and squeals of aquatic folks. But, when all is said that can be said about “Silence” it is but flavourless, as the dictionary says. It is but a temporary manacle on the mouth, a some time relief for the ear, a poetic fantasy falsified by facts, a dream of anaemics disgusted with shrieks and shouts.

Let us turn to Sailence! This word is not found in dictionaries. No lexicographer has commented on it. For, it is too ethereal to be swaddled in syllables, too fine and filamental to be voiced about in vocabularies. It is a positive state of mental peace; it is a vibrant experience of individuals; it is a valued treasure; it is far richer and fuller than Silence; it is a reward eagerly sought for; it is a possession highly valued; it is an achievement won by Sadhana.

When the pilgrim leaves behind him the higgle haggle of the bazaar and enters the temple, when he passes through the pillared halls, the painted corridors and sculptured mantaps, when he picks his way through the dim lit passages and steps, and stands before the Inner Shrine, he is greeted by the Sailence, in the presence of Embodied Infinity. Sai is all the Gods before whom man bows, kneels or prostrates. He greets with His Grace all pilgrims in all lands in all ages.

When you proceed through any spoke, to take shelter from the gyrations of circumferential existence to the axis, where calm prevails and Sailence reigns, it is Sai, the All comprehensive Will, Intelligence, Existence, and Bliss that welcomes you and enfolds you in invigorating Love. Sailence is the home where all children of Sai find rest when, tired of the game of worldly life, they run to the lap of the Mother. It is the home in the region beyond A, U and M, beyond the bounds of wakefulness, dream and sleep. It lies where the Pranava fades into the faintest of fancy. Sailence is the height to which the soul climbs when it yearns to reach the cloud from which it fell on its way to the sea of Grace where it was born.

We get a foretaste of the Bliss that Sailence. Is, when we sit face to face with Sai, communing with Him in the language of the Heart, intent on offering the little ‘i’ to the parent ‘I’ that He is. Those who have installed Sathya Sai Baba in their hearts can immerse themselves in that effulgent Sailence, even when they are engaged in the tasks of daily life. Like the fishes that come up every few minutes to fill their lungs with life-giving air, they can, through the inner compulsion of Love, dive into that Sailent pool in their hearts and draw sustenance and salvation there from. They can assert, “In Sai we live and move and have our being. In Sailence, we grow and thrive and find our meaning and worth.” May that Sailence be the dynamo that activates us into Lamps of Love and Sources of Light.

Prayers Answered

Sri Sathya Sai Baba

Sri Sathya Sai Baba

Long ago, a little boy, a resident of Mumbai, was fascinated when his father sang for him a new bhajan “Gangajataadhara Gauri Shankara Girija Manaramana”. A few months later, Sathya Sai Baba went to Mumbai and the little boy, before going for Divine Darshan, stood before the altar in the Puja room and prayed: “Swami, please sing Gangajatadhara bhajan today.” Imagine how thrilled and overjoyed the boy was when Swami, out of His vast repertoire of bhajans, sang this very bhajan that day. The love conveyed by Swami in granting his small prayer gripped the boy’s heart, so much so that this very same love subsequently drew him to Puttaparthi to join Swami’s school.

I too have experienced this sweet, captivating love of Swami. Indeed, Swami’s love is so pure and sublime that no words can describe its tenderness and charm. Not that it is so abstract. In fact, Swami’s love is concretised in every act of His, every smile of His, every pat of His, and every glance of His.

Speaking of my own experience, I must say that a subtle perception is necessary to experience Swami’s love in all that He does for us or even what He speaks to us, individually or in groups. For instance, one evening, Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa was passing through a rice-field when he saw the sunset on the horizon brightly lit by multicolored clouds. This sight appeared so divine to him that his joy and ecstasy sent him into bhava samadhi. How many of us can experience the same ecstatic joy on seeing a sunset? As in the case of beauty, a divine experience too lies in the vision, perception and sight of the observer.

At Prasanthi Nilayam, we are blessed with Darshan by Swami every day. What greater sight than this one of Sathyam, Sivam and Sundaram walking before us can there be on earth?

Swami’s love answers every good prayer from pure and sincere hearts. For instance, some time back, in U. P., a lady was busily engaged in the inauguration of a Sai Bhajan hall. But her little son was pestering her for a lollipop. Being busy, in exasperation, she pointed to a photograph of Swami kept nearby and said, “If you so badly want a lollipop, ask your Baba for it.” The little boy meekly moved away. But when she looked up after a while, she was surprised to see her son sucking blissfully a lollipop. When she asked him from where he got it, the little innocent boy smiled and, pointing his tiny finger at the photograph, said, “Mother, as you told me, I asked my Baba and He gave me this lollipop.” Obviously, Swami’s love is present everywhere at all times for those who are pure in heart. That is how, though we, Swami’s devotees, gather around Him in thousands, each one of us gets His personal attention. For instance, two years back, I had a hole in my left ear drum and pus used to ooze out from it. Every 60 seconds, I had to clean my ear with a swab of cotton. This went on for an entire year. None of the best doctors in Bombay could do anything to cure it. But last year, when I came to Parthi, just a few words: “Swami, ear trouble” were all that were needed to cure the ear completely.

Indeed, Swami’s love has transformed even wicked and sinful hearts. Some years back a murderer, Kalpagiri, while fleeing from the police, happened to land in Parthi, without any feelings for this holy place or for Swami. However, Swami showered so much love on him that the seeds of that love sprouted into sincere repentance for his evil deeds. His stony heart was so much transformed by Baba’s love that he surrendered himself to the police, prepared to atone for his sins.

When such is the love of Sai, what should we do in reciprocation? We can only follow His footsteps and try to practise love in our own life for others. That, surely, will make Swami very happy. It is not enough that we say “I have God in my heart,” but we should be able to say, “I have Swami’s love in my heart and I am in the heart of Swami—our God.”

Sai Spiritual Showers – Issue 67

The Omnipresent One cares for you in your absence as much as He enthralls you in your presence. One such account by a student of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba‘s University sheds light on the affection par excellence of the Divine Mother. Read on for an account by Sri P.S. Priya Chakravarthi, an alumnus of Sathya Sai University as published in Fragrance – A Tale of Love, souvenir brought out by the School of Business Management – Accounts and Finance, Sri Sathya Sai University.

From Disability to Ability
It was during Dasera in 1995, just after my B.Sc. (Honours) Course, in the Brindavan campus of SSSIHL. All the Brindavan boys who stayed back for the vacation were accommodated in the old Hostel located near the Mandir. As usual, the students used to rush inside the Mandir and were often selective about their sitting locations. I used to have a particular seat where I sat for Swami’s Darshan. May be it was my perception, but Swami appeared to avoid looking in the direction where I used to sit.

One day during Darshan, observing my vacant seat, Swami enquired about my absence from my brother (Vamsi, MBA 1995-97) and asked him where I was. My brother was perplexed and he feared that I was absconding from Darshan with no valid reason. Once the Darshan got over and Swami went inside the interview room with a few devotees, my brother immediately rushed to the old Hostel where I was sleeping. He approached me with anger but seeing me, his anger melted down. He saw me in lot of pain and my face wet with sweat. I was finding it difficult to even sit down on my bed. I was struggling with excruciating pain at the right lower side, but I had not mentioned about this to anyone.

He immediately went back to the Mandir and Swami again approached him and asked him as to where Chakravarthy was. My brother promptly replied that I was in agony and was experiencing unbearable pain. This shows the Omnipresence of Swami. Bhagawan exhibits His Love for all His beings where ever they are, immaterial of whether they are present physically in front of Him or not.

Swami smiled at him and immediately calling a doctor, told him to take me to the Super Speciality Hospital. He also directed my brother to accompany me. I was transported to the Hospital and was given medical attention. In the evening Swami again called my brother and the doctor, materialised Vibuthi and gave money to buy tender coconuts to be given to me with instructions that the Vibuthi should be applied externally at the place where the pain occurred. It reached me by evening. This act of Grace repeated for 3 days (Swami materialising Vibuthi, giving money to buy tender coconuts to be given to me)! The 3rd day, Swami instructed that the Vibuthi should be taken with water.

Then came the D-day, when the senior surgeon recommended that I should be operated upon immediately. I was in a dilemma and could not accept the fact that I was suffering from appendicitis. But the situation demanded surgery and I had no choice. Prior to my operation, I wanted to have Swami’s Darshan and possibly, a chance to talk to Him about my operation (shows my ignorance!). I was permitted for Darshan and was sitting in the front line, mainly to catch the attention of Swami. As usual Swami was busy and He was distributing Prasadam. I was not making any attempt to talk to Him as He was very busy, but the doctor on the verandah began insisting that I should take a chance to talk to Swami. Then, by Swami’s Sankalpa I got a chance to talk to Him. I told Swami, “The doctor says I need to be operated; I need your Grace and Blessings”. Swami gave a stern look and He moved away from me without saying a single wor d. This gave me a shiver that chilled my bones! I was baffled and scared.

My operation was scheduled for the next morning and the doctor administered some medicines. He advised his team to do an initial scan on me to get more clarity about my ailment. But lo and behold! When the reports of the scan arrived, the protrusion of the appendix was literally not visible! The team wrestled with the machine but it always showed a negative report for the protrusion. I was brought back to my ward. The senior doctor was astonished, but was ready to accept this as an instance of the Omnipotence of Swami. I was discharged in a day and I went for Darshan. This time Swami gave me a smile and moved on silently!

This is just one of the many incidents showing His Omnipresence, Omnipotence and Omniscience.
